AICHE — AI Identity in Higher Education — is the cleanest single example of the lab's method driving real product innovation. One initiative, run end-to-end with the lab's own capabilities, that ended with three real products shipping on quicklaunch.io. Not a thought exercise: downloads you can open today.
The method, end-to-end
- Build and deploy the venue. We used the lab's create-and-deploy web capability to stand up the AICHE resource hub — the public home for the initiative, its research artifacts, and its results.
- Find the people. We used LinkedIn tooling to identify and recruit the participants — the higher-ed identity practitioners whose experience the initiative needed — and populate the council.
- Ask the real questions. A structured survey across the participants captured how campuses actually handle AI-agent identity today: what's inventoried, what's governed, and what's quietly running with access nobody tracks.
The threefold result — live on quicklaunch.io
| Product | What it is |
|---|---|
| AI Agent Inventory Tracker | A ready-to-use audit workbook (XLSX): inventory every AI agent, log Shadow AI, risk-score by authentication and data access, with an executive dashboard and an IDP evaluation checklist. Created by Clark. |
| The CIO Guide to Managing AI Identities on Campus | The practical governance framework (PDF): sponsor/owner/trigger roles, data-classification tiers, registration workflows, and the review cadence that keeps AI agents accountable. Created by Clark. |
| The Lifecycle Audit Tool | The on-ramp audit for identity lifecycle management — where accounts come from, where they linger, and where they should have died. |
All three are free, built for higher ed, and live on quicklaunch.io/resources.
Why it matters to the research
This is research question one behaving exactly as claimed: the lab's capabilities — publishing, recruiting, surveying, synthesizing, and writing — pointed at a real product problem, producing real commercial artifacts. The distance from "AI research lab" to "downloads on a company's resources page" is the distance this whole site exists to document.
